Every year, whale sharks migrate to the northern Yucatán Peninsula in pursuit of warm surface waters. They are drawn to areas with cold upwellings that are rich in nutrients—ideal for the growth of plankton, their main food source. The region between Holbox and Isla Mujeres offers these perfect conditions during the summer months, making it a hotspot for whale shark sightings.

• Tour Season: Mid-May to mid-September
• Optimal Viewing: For the highest chances of encountering whale sharks, plan your tour between mid-June and August, with the peak season in July and August.

Tour Details

• Morning Pick-Up: Your day begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel.
• Boat Ride & Snorkeling: You’ll board a comfortable boat bound for Contoy Island—an area renowned for its plankton-rich waters, where whale sharks come to feed.
• Guided Experience: Snorkeling sessions are conducted in small groups (usually two at a time) under the close supervision of an experienced guide, ensuring both safety and an intimate wildlife encounter.

Please note that while we do our utmost to provide an exceptional experience, whale shark sightings are dependent on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. In the rare event that whale sharks are not encountered during your tour, we are unable to offer a refund.

• Bookings cancelled due to weather such us major storms or high wind speed, acts of mother nature or circunstances beyond our control will be rescheduled or subject to a full 100% refund.
• 100% refund if you cancel with up to 72 hours in advance of your scheduled activity.
• 50% refund if you cancel between 24 and 72 hours in advance of your activity.
• If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled activity, no refund will be provided.
• There is no reschedule option within 24 hours of your activity.
• No show for any reason of your scheduled dives or course, including: ill health, flight delays/cancelations, hangovers, late arrivals; no refund will be issued, non-attendance incurs charges that have to be fully covered.
• Refunds do not apply if you decide to interrupt your activity for any reason after it starts, including: seasickness, fear, ill health, ear problems/equalization issues, etc.
• Failure to disclose medical conditions and/or refusal to comply with sufficient safety times before flying informed in the activity, will result in your dive being cancelled with no refund.
